Welcome 2016! I know, I know. I’m officially four days late, but that’s about right when it comes to me.
I’m very excited and very pumped for this new year. I’ve got a lot of big goals and I’m excited to have you along for the journey with me…if you so decide to stick around.
Formal introduction time – Hi! My name is Amanda. I’m a twenty something typical female. Meaning I angst about the condition of my hormonal skin, I work 40+ hours a week, and I deal with the daily challenges brought upon by my reactions to life. And that is something that I hope to work on here in this blog by attempting to write about three or four facets of my life: behavior changes, home improvement changes, craft projects, and a book review or two of twelve.
For January I hope to incorporate two different behavior changes: waking up at 5:15 am (have failed every single day thus far – tomorrow will be different!) and writing something, anywhere for an hour, everyday.
I also hope to complete one big house project: insulating the attic. And for January, this will be the perfect time to do this – also a must for my energy bill – yikes!!
My three craft projects are to complete the scrapbook for my dearest Mom, paint a picture, and melt down all my old candles to create new ones.
The plan is to document all of these endeavors and write them about them here. Maybe you’ll get an idea or two of your own. Maybe you’ll find camaraderie in the call of the couch and the struggle to actually do. Maybe I’ll just make you chuckle or smile, which in all honesty would make my day.
But something else I hope to do, that the nerd in me has really missed doing – book reviews! Perhaps we can grow our minds together – and who knows, create an online book club. This month I’m reading The Name of the Rose by Umberto Eco and The Children Act by Ian McEwan.
Anyways, I’m really looking forward to what this year brings and I plan to move on with the album starting tomorrow! I’ll keep you posted!
Until next time…warmest regards.

I find comraderie in waking up so bloody early to start my day! My goal has been to get up at 6 am daily. So far, I’m batting about 50%…. but, knowing that others are doing similar things? That’s wonderful!!!!

Hi Amanda! Setting goals for yourself is so important — especially writing goals. If you’re serious about it, keep those appointments with yourself. I know 5:15 is early, but think about a time that you could actually commit to. It’ll be worth it. 🙂

Thank you for that dose of realism. I may have to reevaluate the time, had picked it because that’s when I used to get up when training for my marathon – but I’m quickly remembering how tired that made me. 😊😊 I appreciate your encouragement.
